First Idea
The idea behind writing my first novel came a while ago. I had been writing poetry for some years and wanted to stretch my creative writing further. As a child and then an adult i had always had a fascination for fantasy and sci-fi. I watched programmes like The Twilight Zone, X-Files, Millennium and many more. The reason I have started to write The Chronicles series is that I wanted to be able to really create a whole universe for my characters and not just put it all into one volume. Each of the books will centre on a different main character but they will all intertwine and cross paths. Its basically a dark fantasy.
I think the inspiration stemmed from me reading a series of fantasy novels by the genius writer Piers Antony called The Incarnations of Immortality series which centres on various people taking on the roles of Immortal gods/entities and the paths they choose. What i particularly liked was they way that all the stories crossed and made perfect sense at the end. I think there were seven in total and I am aiming for about the same amount. I have completed the first one which is entitled When All is Lost and I am currently writing the second one.
My first short story was written out of curiosity more than anything. I saw a competition for writers to submit a short story that had to be a certain word length. I wrote a fantasy story called Interview no 5. (which is on my blog) and although it has not reached a huge audience i have had positive comments from those that have read it.
Well onward and upward as they say......................................
