Ok strange week

Right so lets get up to date.

Friday 20th.

Big event of the day was our nephew Matthew's 5th Birthday.  We went to his little dinner party (me, mum and Deb) and Sarah volunteered to watch the dog (she watched the Womens Football but said it was boring).  In the evening we didnt do a lot other than chill.  Jennine, Libby and Ben came up for the weekend to see Tony next door and we stood out on the decking having a talk and socialising.

Saturday 21st

Me Deb and Sarah went to fleetwood while my mum watched the dog.  Had a good day out and a nice meal at a high street chip shop.  Deb and Sarah managed to find a few crafting items that they were after and I found a couple of items in the charity shops.  Again not a lot happened in the evening although we ended up having a couple of alcoholic beverages.  Me and Sarah had a couple of Jim Beam and cokes and my mum and Deb had Snowballs.

Sunday 22nd

My mum got an invitation from my sister to go up for Sunday Dinner, so me Deb and Sarah had a nice simple dinner of chicken and chips (deb had chips and salad).  In the afternoon we watched a couple of films.  The Raven (which i enjoyed even though it wouldnt be everyone's cup of tea) and also the remake of Fright Night (which David Tennant definitely stole).  It was a nice afternoon and we all just chilled and relaxed.  Had a couple of beers in the afternoon.

Monday 23rd

Well it was quite a sad day today as Sarah went home (we miss her a lot).  Me Deb and Tony took her back while mum once again watched the dog.  Got to see one of our other mum's ........lol (Janet, Sarah's mum) and sorted out a pc problem while I was down there.  Had a fairly strange journey down there as the Sat Nav was determined to try and take us onto the toll road.  We eventually made it to our destination by a rather unorthodox route.  Said our goodbye's to Sarah (Anfield here we come..........soon) and had a easier journey back home.  Nothing much happened in the evening and we went bed early as we were both shattered from the travelling (7 hours drive)

Tuesday 24th

Went to Cleveleys and had a look in the charity shops.  I picked up another book, deb found a few items including a halti collar (easy leader) that after trying on Jess we realised was too big.and mum got a couple of jigsaws.  We had a good walk and when we got back not a lot happened for the rest of the day other than I ordered Deb an Amazon Kindle from Argos and arranged to pick it up the next day.  A quiet evening after I sorted out a couple of Laptop issues for Jennine and Libbie.  Me and Tony had a couple of Fireballs (alcoholic spirit that should be called 'wow that bloody burns')

Wednesday 25th.

That week flew.  Today we went back to cleveleys so I could collect Deb's Kindle and Deb could swap the dog collar.  Mum was bad and bought another two jigsaws (We bought her a 1000 piece muppet jigsaw.............lol).  We got back back and Deb was eager to try out her new toy....lol.  She is really impressed with it and spent a lot of the evening getting used to all its functions, and getting it connected to our wifi so she could download some free books.

Thursday 26th

Not much to write about here other than a doctors appointment for me that went rather strangely.  For the last week I havent been feeling too good, dizziness, slurring words, jumbling words and random bouts of throwing up.  I think it all started with an incident that happened the day after my birthday.  Anyway the doctor said that as I had blacked out for a couple of minutes that it could have been linked to stress and he gave me this wonderful piece of advice that I will take to my grave.  'If you are going to get stressed........don't'.  Yes that's what he advised, well that solved my problems......................NOT.  He at least changed my painkiller prescription from nurofen to soluble co-codamol.  Deb was not impressed with the appointment and says I should get a second opinion.  In the evening I watched the GB v Senegal men's football and thought that we were robbed of a penalty that was so blatant it was unbelieveable.  It ended 1-1.  Later that evening me and Deb watched Absolutely Fabulous Olympic episode and it was as funny and mental as ever.

Friday 27th

Got up today feeling well out of it and very spaced.  Mum went to town on her own and me and Deb just did our usual stuff on computers. And that dear blog brings you bang up to date................

40th Birthday

I was somewhat overwhelmed with all the birthday greetings I got from facebook and also the amount of people that asked me how my day went, so here goes.

I awoke at 8.30am, dressed and came downstairs.  About ten minutes later the rest of the house (my fiancee Deb, best friend Sarah and mum) came down and joined me.  We sat at the table enjoying a first cup of tea of the day and then they all disappeared and reappeared five minutes later laden with bags and cards.  I opened all my cards and presents.  I received.

DVD Boxset of Bourne Films
DVD boxset of Billy Connolly stand up
Only Fools and Horses Monopoly
Three T-Shirts (2 only fools and horses and a Dads army one)
Animal notebook
Beaker and Animal Plush toys (12 inch tall)
Socks x 2 pairs (Fab at 40)
Small photoframe keyring
Mug and Coaster sets x 2
Tankard and Bottle Opener Set (Only Fools and Horses)
Huge 40 Badge

After opening these and answering various phone calls I then enjoyed a nice bacon sandwich and another cup of tea.  Once this was finished I was sent out of the house for a couple of hours.  Tony took me upto Micks and while there I enjoyed a couple of glasses of a very nice white wine and talked about all sorts.

At about 12.45 I was driven back home to find that the street had been decorated with 40 banners andballoons.  They had even put posters of me in various funny poses that had been taken over the years all over the lamp posts.  I entered the house to find more banners and balloons and also that there was a party planned for me.  As well as the people mentioned above there was also my sister Paula and my Brother in Law Andy, Tonys mum Janet and our other friend Sarah.  I opened more cards and was given more presents including a large leather book that contained the history of Liverpool FC from 1906 to 2011, a Liverpool Beanie Hat, £20, and also a Limited Edition Dragon Cuckoo Clock that had been brought for me by most of the people there.  I also had four bottles of wine given to me by Mick.  As I went into the hall I was informed by Deb that my main present hadnt arrived and she proceeded to tell me what it was.  She had paid for a VIP trip to anfield for me and a friend (had to be Sarah), a 3 course VIP lunch in one of the executive boxes, a tour of the stadium and trophy room and a meet with a Liverpool Legend.  I was stunned into silence !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The buffet was really nice and everyone had made such an effort to make my day so special.  We talked and socialized for the rest of the day and later in the afternoon Tony brought me round another present which was another DVD, the boxset of Duty Free.

I had a few drinks and as the people left in the evening it got nice and quiet and me and Sarah had a couple of Jim Beam and cokes to finish of the night.  I went onto the Play website and decided to spend my £20.  I bought Harpers Island and The New Statesmen Boxsets.  I also went onto facebook and caught up with all my emails and messages.  It was a hectic day but it was also a day I will never forget.

Today I got up at about 9.30 and after we had all sat around talking for a bit the post arrived.  Here was my main present.  All the details about my Anfield trip there in colour right in front of me.  I had to look twice to believe it.  We cant wait to go (we can go any time in the next ten months).  At about midday we all went town and met up with Paula and Andy and went for a meal at a lovely town pub called The Rose and Crown.  It was a really nice family meal and everything went good.  After leaving there we decided to have a walk through town and I got another couple of DVD's.  The excellent Hostage with Bruce Willis and the timeless Italian Job (the Michael Caine version).  I waited outside the Disney shop while Deb, Sarah and my mum went to look around.  When they came out I found out my mum had bought me Swedish Chef to go with the other two she had already got me.  By the time we got home we were all worn out and we have been chilling for the rest of the evening

Oh The Memories

Well when I was a kid
Remember the times I hid
And didn't do as I was bid
Oh the memories

And when I was a teen
And life wasn't so supreme
But I lived as if in a dream
Oh the memories

My twenties came at me too fast
And I thought that they would always last
But I blinked and they had passed
Oh the memories

Now my thirties what a decade
All the choices that I made
My life no longer afraid
Oh the memories

Now into my forties I stare
And I see my future there
And they will take me, I know not where
I wonder what memories

Last Day.................

Well its currently 11.20am on the 17th July and i am well on my way into the last day of my thirties.

Its been overall a good decade for me.  I have spent every year of it with my fiancee Deb and a lot has happened.  In ten years we have moved 3 times.  Firstly from Stoke to Blackpool and then twice when in Blackpool.  We have gone from a two bedroom flat to a three bed semi-detached house.  We also now own a dog.  But still it seems like the last decade has passed by me in a blur.  My condition has deteriorated somewhat but not to any severity (i can still live).

So tomorrow i leave my thirties behind me and enter a new decade.  I wonder what my 40's will bring.  I have plans.  First and foremost I want to marry Deb.  I also want to stop wasting my days and get some of my work published.  I am a terrible procrastinator and this is something I wish to stop.

At the moment Deb and Sarah have nipped into our village and my mum and me are just passing time waiting for them to return.  The dog is fast asleep and I decided to catch up on my blog.

The last few days haven't really heralded much.  Yesterday I stayed in with the dog while everyone else went to the town center (i wasnt allowed.......lol)  Last night we watched Despicable Me which i thought was a good film with a nice few bits of humour.  We all sat down and watched it together and i think the others enjoyed it too.

Fetching Sarah and my mum on Saturday went surprisingly well and apart from a ten minute traffic jam there were no other problems.  We set out just after 9.30am and arrived in Leicester just after 12.15 (not bad timing).  On the way down we listened to some cd's.  Enigma and The Prodigy (what a mixture).  On the way from Leicester to Stoke we played Meat Loaf and then once my mum was in the car I played a 60's cd.........lol.  We arrived in Blackpool shortly after 4.30.

Sunday was a nothing day and I spent most of the day playing PC games (i know i am a big kid).  The game I am playing is called Kingdoms of Amalur and it is immense.  So far I have been playing it for almost 48 hours (gameplay time) and I have half of the map left to open yet.  I love RPG's.  The other one I am determined to finish is called Skyrim (I am level 37 at the moment).

Well next time I write I will have aged another year so bye to my thirties !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Friend

Such a good friend, always there for me
A person who I can trust with my life
Remembering that we have known each other years
And I know that we always will be friends
How lucky I am to have someone who understands me

Heart like a diamond, she is so full of loving
One in a million a ray of sunshine in the rain
Voice that talks to me, treats me like a brother
Each day we speak and never run out of things to say
Life would be boring if she was not a part of mine
Let everyone be lucky enough to have a friend like you

Friday 13th aggggggggghhhhhhhhhh

Well its 15.15pm on friday 13th july and its absolutely pee....erm....raining :)

its been a busy week as we have been preparing for the arrival (we fetch them tomorrow from leicester and stoke respectively) of my best friend Sarah and my mum.

We have literally not stopped all week preparing and getting the house ready (Deb has even dusted the cobwebs and polished the spiders legs........lol).  Went town on Tuesday and again today.  Got everything we are going to need (hopefully).  Did an online Tesco shop and a Iceland delivery (both arriving in the next hour).  Poor Deb has been rushed of her feet both with offline and online activities.  She has been cleaning one minute and designing the next.  I have offered to postpone my 40th birthday for a couple of years but she wont let me.............lol

Went Poundland again today and picked up some more dvd's.  I keep trying to avoid the place but it draws me in like a magnet and when you are only paying £1 for a dvd, you cant really complain.

We are leaving at about 9.30am tomorrow and are going to Leicester first to pick up Sarah.  We cant wait to see her as she is one of those friends that I can talk to everyday and never run out of things to say.  We watched almost every match in Euro 2012 together, while talking on the phone.  Have known her for erm..................a long time.  If you want to know more about her then see my poem today :)

We are hoping to be in Leicester for about midday time and after having a brew and a chat its up to sunny Stoke to collect my mother.  Sarah is staying until the 23rd (it will go so quick :( ) and my mum is staying until 28th or 29th (it will go so slowwww............lol).  Only joking.

What Might Have Been

They meet every month for a drink in the town
always have a smile though their lives are lived behind a frown
and they always manage to smile at each other no matter when the day
for they are friends to each other and that's how it must stay
they have known each other for over twenty years
and they still remember school day laughs and sometimes even tears
and they married both a while ago and families they have got
but that first childhood kiss will never be forgot
so they sit and they talk though each burns deep within
for their real chance at love, a game they know they will never win
and they always tell each other about how good their lives now are
but for the want of a special love each will bear the scar

when they are done they say their goodbyes with a soft kiss on the cheek
and each one will count down the minutes, the hours and the weeks
they will look into their children's eyes and and see a past that slipped away
and lying in bed they will always see the love they shared that day
and its funny how life's journey sometimes takes us of our course
and we never get the chance to rewind or even pause
for this life is just a click of the fingers and its soon done and gone
so don't stare into the darkness when in front of you is the sun
take a chance when it appears it could just be your last
for there is no point living the future but regretting the past

Come on Andy

Well its been a strange few days, especially weather wise.  We have had sun, rain, wind, thunder and lightning and all within four days.  The thunder wasn't much but it was enough to scare our dog who didn't know what to do with her self.  She was either snuggled up next to me at my computer desk or snuggled up to Deb while she was designing on her laptop.

Good news on the sport front this week so far.  England have once again showed how good they are at one day cricket by taking a 3-0 lead against Australia and now people are complaining because we didn't win easy enough (some people are never satisfied).

Wimbledon provided us with some good news (for a nice change) Andy Murray through to the Wimbledon Mens Final (as i write this he is 1-0 up in sets).  I think back to a few days before Wimbledon started and I was on yahoo sport because i had just heard that Murray had been given a tough draw.  What amazed me was how negative people were i.e. he wont get past Davydenko and if he does he wont get past Karlovic and if he does.....etc.etc.   I am glad he has proved all those people wrong but even if he wins i bet there will still be those who say "well he wont win it next year" LOL

Havent done a lot in the last few days as the weather has been detrimental to our activities.  We have walked the dog a few times and she has definitely settled in perfectly (she is as mad as we are now :)  ).

Have finished my Steptoe and Son boxset and I am very disappointed because they have cut one of the christmas specials.  I hate it when they do this because it spoils the program if you have already seen it in its entirety.  While I am on my soap box there is another thing that really gets to me about TV.  Why oh why do they insist on hypeing up a program with interviews and stories in the tv guides and then cancel it as it gets interesting.  This has happened a lot recently and to name one example Terra Nova.  A great sci-fi/futuristic fantasy series and after one series (and leaving you with a million questions) they have axed it.  I suppose that is the problem with the UK getting a lot of American shows, we never know when they will be taken off.

Me and Deb settled down to watch a movie last night (first one for a while).  We watched Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon and I didnt think it was too bad at all.  It was obvious that most of the budget went on the Robotics and Special Effects and it was very visually appealing.  It was also cool to hear the great Leonard Nimoy voicing one of the Autobots.  My main gripe was them replacing the leading woman Megan Fox.  The new actress was very transparent in her acting.  She tried but i think that the film lost a lot of its appeal for me because of the change (and Sarah stop smiling please as you are reading this).

Tears

They appear for countless reasons
Sometimes we want them and sometimes they just appear
There are times when we can stop them, but dont
There are times when we should show them, but dont
They are a sign of emotion, some say weakness
They can be joy, they can be pain
They can bring a smile or a frown
They can mean the happiest day of your life
Or the worst thing that has ever happened to you
We sometimes hide from them, smile behind them
Strong if we dont show them, wrong if we dont show them
And no matter how many go, there are countless left
Tears.

Happy 4th July

To all those that celebrate it just wanted to wish you all a very happy 4th July :)

Well on my last update I pointed out that I was looking forward to the Euro 2012 final and to be honest it didn't really live up to the billing.  I thought that Spain deserved to win but not 4-0.  I also thought that Italy were desperately unlucky to lose two players through injury (one only four minutes after coming on).  I think Spain are a showboating team and I really don't believe that they are as good as they think they are.  They are enjoying a good spell of wins at the moment but I can almost guarantee that it will end soon. Its like anything, all good things come to an end.  Look at the domination of Brazil in the seventies.  Argentina were awesome in the eighties and even France had their time in the limelight, but look now.

Went town yesterday and once again went into poundland and picked up a ridiculous spoof film (which i would not have bought for any more than the £1 we paid for it).  Its called Rubber and its about a killer tyre (yes you read that correct).  I like b-movies and it will be good for a laugh if nothing else.

Had some more Amazon vouchers on Monday night and so I ordered

1)  Steptoe and Son and Steptoe and Son ride again double movie pack
2)  Hitchikers guide to the galaxy (the series not the film)
3)  Surgical Spirit boxset

I love tv comedy and tv series and these will make a good addition to our collection.  I have almost finished the boxset of Steptoe and only have the christmas specials to watch.  We are about halfway through the series of Fringe we are watching and have no idea what we are watching next.

Only ten days until I fetch my sis Sarah from Leicester and my mum from Stoke.  Only two weeks until 40 aaaaaghhhhhhhhh !!!!

Heard not long ago that we have lost a comedy legend today ............R.I.P. Eric Sykes 1923-2012

Decades

I remember the 70's but only a little
for I was born in 72
and I remember the queens jubilee in 77
waving my flag, red white and blue
The red hot summer of 76
with temperatures of 30 every day
and I remember the infant school where I was educated
funny how the years slip away

now into the eighties and this was my time
the decade where I spent most of my teens
from the early computers, the spectrums, the commodores
and having fun in the years inbetween
the music I listened to, erasure, depeche mode
pet shop boys, duran duran and much more
buying vinyl that I just had to own
playing loud until a knock on my door

well the nineties they came and my real life started
here was the chance to build a career
learning computers and office work, writing games and software
and finally old enough to drink beer
having my first proper relationship
and learning the hardships of life
believing that my life would just go on and on
while dealing with anguish and strife

well the millenium reared its head and a new century began
and for me it was to be a wonderful year
for this was when I met my fiancee Deb
and my future became crystal clear
well its 2012 now and as I approach 40
I look back at my life and its journey to date
but I see a future with smiles and tears yet to fall
and the paths that it will create

Trip into town

Well Saturday we decided to take a risk and head into town for a couple of hours.  Didnt need anything in particular just a walk around.  While we were down there we called into a place called Poundland and found three dvd's.

1) Death Note - a very good japanese movie (i like japanese films)
2) Kaiji - Japanese movie again (same cast as Death Note)
3) The Legend of Lucy Keyes (looks like a nice b-movie thriller/horror)

Its amazing the things that you can pick up in Poundland.  Had a little walk around town and picked up a few more items and then came back home.  At various points in the day it looked like the heavens would open but i am thankful to say that they didnt.  We are already ten days into Summer and have so far had eight days where it has rained at some point in the day.  Good old english summer.

Later in the afternoon i watched some more of my steptoe and son boxset (5 episodes to be exact) and had a good laugh at the antics of the two main characters and the situations they find themselves in.  Didnt do a lot else yesterday other than watch another episode of Fringe before we went to bed.

Sunday morning and the sky was dark and the weather depressing when i dragged myself from my pit at 10.30 this morning (i know its lazy but its Sunday).  Its now 13.45 and though we keep having odd bursts of sun and some blue sky the majority of it is still dark and depressing.

Well done Andy Murray for winning again yesterday and its good that he is in the last 16 again ( hope he can do really well this year).  On another sporting note it is the second one day match between England and Australia at cricket and lets hope we put on another good performance like we did in the victory the other day.  Also its the big Euro 2012 final today and that is going to be the highlight of my weekend.  Just hope Italy win.
